Evington Park Bowling Club

In December 2016 the separate men’s and ladies’ clubs agreed to unify as a  mixed club from the 2017 season. Membership totals a little over sixty. The Club plays in the North East Leicester Triples League and these games are played on Tuesday evenings. Friendly matches are played on Thursday and Saturday afternoons throughout the season. The Ladies also play friendly matches against Ladies Clubs but on no fixed day of the week. Monday evenings provide coaching opportunities in a relaxed atmosphere as does Wednesday afternoon. The Club receives support from the Leicester City Sport on Parks unit in the form of advice and maintenance of the facilities, most especially care of the two greens. The Club is affiliated to both Bowls Leicestershire and the Leicester City and District Parks Bowling Association and the Club and its members play in their competitions. The greens are open to the general public on weekdays, except Thursday, and the Club is responsible for collecting the hourly fees. This is a well-used facility with some 16% of the usage of the greens coming from this source. The Club is run by a Management Committee which meets regularly during the year. The Club is grateful to the Leicester Sport on Parks unit and the Bowls Development Alliance for financial support to help with recruitment.
